Nursing Manager Position

Requirements

  • Grade 12 qualification accredited by the South African Nursing Council (SANC) under Government Notice R425, specifically a Diploma or Degree in Nursing, or an equivalent qualification enabling SANC registration as a Professional Nurse.
  • Must hold current, valid registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
  • Requires evidence of current SANC registration.
  • Possesses post-basic qualifications in Nursing Administration.
  • Must have basic computer literacy skills.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience as a registered Professional Nurse with SANC.
  • At least 3 of the 7 years must be in a hospital setting.

  • Strong leadership and ward management/administration skills.
  • Excellent planning, organizing, coordination, and communication abilities.
  • Ability to take charge and make independent, appropriate decisions.
  • Demonstrates empathy for patients, promoting advocacy and facilitating holistic treatment and care.
  • Knowledge of administrative policies and guidelines.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Nursing Legislation and the Health Act.

Duties

  • Supervises and ensures the provision of effective and efficient patient care through adequate nursing practices.
  • Coordinates and monitors the implementation and evaluation of nursing care plans.
  • Provides relevant information to healthcare users to support optimal health outcomes.
  • Maintains constructive working relationships with nursing staff and other stakeholders, fostering interprofessional and multidisciplinary teamwork.
  • Participates in the analysis, formulation, and implementation of nursing guidelines, practices, and standard operating procedures.
  • Manages and monitors the proper utilization of human, financial, and physical resources.
  • Maintains professional growth, ethical standards, and supports the development of self and subordinates.
  • Performs all other duties delegated by the Supervisor/Manager within the scope of nursing practice.
