Job description

Experience: A minimum of 7 years of appropriate and recognisably relevant experience in nursing, having been registered as a Professional Nurse with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) in the General Nursing field.

Minimum Educational Qualification: A Basic R425 qualification, which is either a diploma or degree in Nursing, or an equivalent qualification that permits registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse and Midwife.

Duties: Responsible for managing clinical services and staff rostering. This includes planning, managing, coordinating, and maintaining an optimal quality Nursing Service within a hospital setting. The role involves participative management and the effective utilisation of Human Resources to fulfil both operational and developmental functions in the area. Additionally, the position entails managing and monitoring the Financial Resources, consumables, and equipment associated with the clinical area. The incumbent is expected to initiate and participate in training, development, and research activities within the nursing department. Furthermore, the role delivers a support service to the Nursing Service Department and the institution as a whole. Maintaining ethical standards and promoting professional growth and self-development are also key responsibilities.
